Hour of AI 2025
Hour of AI 2025

Minecraft Education launches “Hour of AI: The First Night,” a free DLC and demo that lets players conquer the notorious first night with an AI agent they program themselves. The lesson is playable by anyone through Minecraft Education’s MakeCode environment. The module extends a decade of Hour of Code collaboration with Code.org and Microsoft, embedding puzzle-driven tasks that teach pattern recognition and resource classification. Players train their Agent and its mini-helpers to gather materials and automate shelter construction before sunset.

Our discussion also includes: the possible risks and benefits of this new technology, how AI-assisted tools can be used outside of educational institutions by life-long learners and critical thinkers, and how the future might unfold as we experience living with AI.

Jerry’s book uses frequent analogies to building fieldstone walls.

How not to run out of ideas: Stone Wall GIF by JC Property Professionals

Every stone-built wall is unique because you build it from a unique combination and arrangement of stones. Even using the same set of stones, you can build thousands of unique walls by stacking them differently.

The same is true of creating unique combinations of ideas.
